So much has been said about that passage, (Isaiah 41:10) that somehow led many into thinking that it will work wonders if one holds to it like a charm. But what does it mean, to whom and why were those words spoken? Let’s get to the scriptures, and find out.

“Scripture is the best interpreter of scripture. The Locks of Scripture are only to be opened with the keys of scripture: and there is no lock in the whole Bible, which God meant us to open, without a key to fit it somewhere.” (Charles Spurgeon)

It was 712 BC, at the time of King Hezekiah when Isaiah (41:10) spoke those words. Nevertheless, most Christians today would say amen to this passage and claim it; as if the promise was made to them. Well, that’s not how it works. Let’s get to the context:

That passage was meant for Israel, read verse 8; wondering why it brought me to this understanding from scripture.

From the time those words were spoken during the reign of King Hezekiah, (see Isaiah 39:1-8) Israel was slipping waywardly from God in self-confidence as Babylon turned into a great empire. After an entire 200 years had elapsed from the time of King Hezekiah, history tells us, that this new enemy invaded Judah in 586 BC, conquered Jerusalem, breached its walls, destroyed their homes, placed its inhabitants in chains into slavery, and brought them out of the promised land in exile for 70 years. Now knowing what had transpired in that timeframe from King Hezekiah's reign, would show, that those spoken words at the time of utterance, were prophetically meant to comfort Israel when they faced captivity. With bowed heads, they will hope and pray for mercy through the entire period of the prophetic 70-year exile, (see Jeremiah 25:11-12) in repentance for turning away from God. Thus, it is said, that upon sorrow and lament, Isaiah 41:10 was spoken to serve its meaning.

And, there are many more passages such as these: Phil. 4:13; Joshua 1:5, Christians take out of context; without much thought, thinking that no matter what, God will be on their side all the time, even in sin, to the detriment of their spiritual standing.

Biblical inspiration is the doctrine in Christian theology, whereat, it is said that the human authors of the Bible were led, or influenced by God. Designating their writings, in some sense, as the word of God. (2 Pet. 1:21)

Relatively, Biblical Inspiration means that the Holy Spirit guided the human authors to convey, without error, those truths of God that are necessary for our salvation... God gives the authors inspiration, and they put His message into their own words.

the Bible, in this sense of the term, “inspiration” means divinely given, or divinely guided. Hence, Paul tells us, and I quote:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

All that being said, one might wonder why there are so many seemingly controversies among the believers, especially concerning deliverance, that the church is divided on the issue.

The possible explanation I found is this; in my reading, I find three key types of verses/passages in scriptures, as follows: (click underscored shaded text)

Here is how it’s supposed to work in resolving the problem. Before anyone claims any written declarative verses for himself, one must first see to it that he/she adheres to the written prescriptive verses; so that, in turn, he/she may be associated with the descriptive verses that pertain to the followers of God, whereat all the said typed passages were written all over the place, at different times and circumstances by different authors.

But wait, that is only one side of the coin, the other side would turn out like this, as follows:

Hence see to it that you are holding on to the right Key verses/passages

Taking all these, in this manner, prevents us from contending the verses, one with the other, thereby heeding the voice of the Holy Spirit, which brought to us the good news. So that in Making a Stand on Faith, we may glorify the one and only God of the Bible… in one spirit and truth
